CT 2.jpg Charlie Timmerman, DVM:

Dr. Charlie Timmerman, a 1970 graduate of the University of Georgia, has practiced in Aiken since graduation. He opened Aiken Veterinary Clinic in 1972. Prior to that he married Colleen Kneece in 1971 and they have 2 children. He now has one grandchild who is the apple of his eye. His special interests in veterinary medicine include chiropractic and herbal medicines. His hobbies are Clemson athletics (GO TIGERS!), golf and various hunting activities. He also participates in horseback field trial events and is a member of Cedar Creek Church.
Kim.jpg Kim Smart, DVM:

Kim Smart grew up in northern Aiken County. She attended Clemson University where she received a B.S. degree in Animal Industries and then went to the University of Georgia where she obtained her degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Kim currently lives in North Augusta with her daughter Kelsey. She enjoys being outdoors, spending time at the beach, NASCAR, and riding horses.

Kim has been a part of Aiken Veterinary Clinic since she was eighteen years old. Currently, she works part time, primarily as a surgeon. Kim spends the rest of her time as a large animal clinician.
Sunday Cozzi, DVM:

Sunday and her family moved to Aiken in the Fall of 2003. Prior to that, she practiced in Augusta for several years. She received her DVM from the University of Tennessee (but Charlie hired her anyway!). She also holds a degree in Telecommunications from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Her areas of interest are internal medicine and ophthalmology. She enjoys spending time outside with her husband Alex and son Jackson. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, travel and reality television (her little secret). Sunday and her family are owned by two cats: Elvira and Mookie.  Currently Dr. Cozzi is only filling in as needed since the arrival of her second son Parker.

Charles Groover, DVM:

Dr. Charles Groover is originally from Allendale, South Carolina. He attended Ross University for 2 years, and began his veterinary education at Clemson University, finishing at Louisiana State University. He has been in practice for about 10 years and has worked at clinics in Mississippi and Georgia. Charles married his wife Phyllis in 2000, and they have three children, Coleman, Jackson, and Madison. They have 2 dogs: "Trace" and "Annabelle": a cat named "Dancer" and a pony named "Trigger".

Denise Morris (pictured with her Shih Tzu Bonita):

Denise Morris has worked at Aiken Veterinary Clinic full time since April 1987. She is the office manager. Denise, her husband Donald, and their son Drew are very much animal lovers. They have a Shih tzu named “Bonita”, 3 Himalayans:  "Winston," "Cleo," and "Peyton" inside (and a “crew” outside). Her spare time is spent with her family and animals and watching Drew play baseball.

Veterinary Technicians: Laura Gossett, Sam Tiedman, Annette Turno and Chris Hartman

Sam Tiedman:


Sam is originally from New York.  She recieved her degree in veterinary technology from the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Colorado.  Upon completion in 2005 she has moved to Aiken and started working at Aiken Veterinary Clinic.  She currently has 3 dogs, 2 cat, 2 hamsters, and 1 bird.  Most of her spare time goes to the animals.

Annette Turno LVT:

Annette received her Veterinary Technology degree from Tri County Technical College in May 1981. Upon graduating with honors, she started working at Aiken Veterinary Clinic in June 1981. Originally from North Augusta, SC, she has lived in Aiken since 1989.

Annette enjoys training and showing Arabian horses. She and her current horse, Shamal, have earned many championships from all over the Southeast, including a Regional title. Along with the horses, she and her husband Don own one dog, one house cat, and employ six barn cats. For Annette, animals are a way of life. Annette and Don also own and operate Turnobout Farms, a horse boarding facility.

Chris Hartman LVT:

Chris Hartman is originally from Michigan. She moved to Aiken in 1995 and started working at Aiken Veterinary Clinic. Chris received her Veterinary Technology degree from Michigan State University. Currently she has 1 cat, "Simon," who actually believes he is a dog and she is starting to believe it too.  She has two dogs, "Mattie" and "Gracie".

Laura Gossett LVT:

Laura Gossett works full time at Aiken Veterinary Clinic as a licensed Veterinary Technician. She received an Associate in Science Degree with a Major in Veterinary Technology from Tri-County Technical College in 1998. Laura and her husband Jimmy have 2 daughters, Emily and Jordan, and three Labrador Retrievers. In their spare time they enjoy drag racing and and spending time with their family.

Receptionists: Amanda Glisson and Christina Baugh with Azalea

Christina Baugh:

The first person you usually see walking into Aiken Veterinary Clinic is Christina, waiting for you with a smiling face.  Right behind her you may notice on the floor her trusty and fearless companion "Azalea". Christina, who is originally from the big city of Knoxville, Tennessee - has grown to love our small town, and has settled down here with her husband Terry.  At home she also has three loveable canine friends:  "Nikko," "Sophie," and "Keili."  Christina has been an intricate part of our team since 2003.

Amanda Glisson:

Amanda has worked at Aiken Veterinary Clinic since 2005.  She has 2 cats, "Bubba" and "Chanel" that think they run the house, and a handsome doberman named "Wyatt."  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Boarding Staff:  Martha Courtney and Myrna LaFrance

Martha Courtney:

In 1989 Martha Courtney's childhood dream came true, she went to work for Dr. Timmerman at Aiken Veterinary Clinic in the boarding kennel. She loves animals and takes care of a lot of four-legged babies, not only at work but at home too. She has 12 dogs, 2 cats, 4 goats and 4 hens and a rooster. Martha loves every minute of it.

Myrna LaFrance:

Myrna grew up in Charleston, SC and longed to have many pets. Dr. Timmerman made it possible. She has been at Aiken Veterinary Clinic for 18 years and now has 8 babies, 3 children, and 2 grandchildren.
